If you've ever sat there wondering “What actually is Scouse?” or “Why are people from Liverpool called Scousers?”, then congrats – you’re about to get educated (in the nicest possible way). Grab a cuppa and let me break it down for you, Scouse Bird-style.
Scouse is a traditional stew – beef or lamb, potatoes, carrots, onions – dead hearty and proper boss on a cold day. It’s basically our version of comfort food with a bit of history behind it. The name comes from “lobscouse”, a dish Norwegian sailors used to eat back in the day. Liverpool being the port city it is, well... it stuck.
If you fancy making it at home and you’re more Delia than Deliveroo, I’ve even got a dead handy Scouse Recipe Tea Towel that'll talk you through it step-by-step. It’s proper cute, makes a great gift, and bonus – you don’t have to Google the recipe while your hands are full of spuds.
A Scouser is anyone from Liverpool. We’re sound, we’ve got the best accent in the UK (don’t fight me on this), and we’re dead proud of where we’re from. It’s not just a label – it’s a vibe. Being a Scouser means you're warm, funny, and usually not afraid to say exactly what you’re thinking.
Now we’re talkin’. A Scouse Bird is a woman from Liverpool – but not just any woman. We’re strong, sharp, stylish and don’t take sh*t from anyone. The type to have rollers in, a boss tan, and still show up with receipts if you cross her.
I’ve even turned the legend of the Scouse Bird into an entire range – from the Definition Of A Scouse Bird Mug to the Print and Coaster. It’s one of our all-time best sellers, and honestly, it makes a cracking gift (even if it’s just to yourself).
If you love Liverpool as much as I do, you need to check out my full Liverpool Gifts collection. From Liver Birds to the infamous purple wheelie bin, it’s all in there. Made by a Scouser, for Scousers – and honorary Scousers too.
So whether you’re wondering what Scouse tastes like, or you just want a mug that says “I’m a Scouse legend and proud”, then Scouse Bird Shop is the best place to be on the planet!
